California Lovin’

Well I can honestly say that I have never been west of the Mississippi until now. Ben and I went on another adventure to another amazing place where I would love to live! It’s nothing like I have ever seen before, everything was so vibrant and fresh and happy. California stole my heart the minute I got off the plane. Our first mini adventure when we arrived was to get the rental car…. Well one would think this would be an easy task but when you have spent ten hours flying with a three hour time change and hardly any sleep waiting for a car is the last thing that you want to do on a 80 degree day. So we ended up waiting so long that they upgraded us to a luxury car, and let me tell you it was worth all the wait. Ben was very excited about our upgrade because it was a brand new Audi that he wanted for himself!

After getting our rental car it was time to check into the hotel and grab some food and check out the area. Granted the area where we were staying was a little expensive but very beautiful. We stayed right outside of San Francisco where one of his offices for work is. After grabbing some food and walking around the area and doing a little window shopping we decided it was time for bed because we had a whole day planned the next day to go to Napa.

Napa….. let me tell you, is Heaven on Earth if it were ever possible. We visited four different wineries our first day, yes I said first day because we HAD to go back, at the first four wineries that we went to it was absolutely breathtaking views of the vineyards and the wine was amazing. The wineries give you at least five wines to taste and you normally get a very generous portion of wine in each glass, so by the end of one wine tasting you start to feel pretty good!

After our wine tastings we decided to grab a bite to eat, and the food where we stopped was to die for! They had the best burgers I have ever had, and that could have been the wine talking but I swear to you, it was the best burger I’ve ever had!

While we were in California we also visited Mount Diablo State Park, which is this little mountain close to where we were staying. You just drive through the mountain and there are some amazing views of the valleys and other mountains around it. We went to Half Moon Bay, which was awesome because now I can officially say that I have been in the Pacific ocean. We stayed a night in Santa Cruz which was interesting and it reminded me a lot of Old Orchard Beach in Maine, it probably wouldn’t be a place that I would recommend someone to visit but we still had a good time. We also visited the Big Basin Redwood State Park which was like nothing that I have ever seen before. The trees made you feel so small compared to the rest of the world. It was an incredible feeling and experience to see.

The last part of our trip we spent in San Francisco, which was amazing! We saw so many things, the crooked road, the trolleys, Pier 39, and the aquarium. We also got to experience China town which was pretty cool. Every city I go to in the US I try to visit the China Towns well I can say that the China Town in San Fran was the best China Town I have experienced with amazing food!
